10 cities with most billionaires in world

1. Moscow, Russia


Number of billionaires: 74

Average volume of wealth: 5.9 billion U.S. dollars

Because of the rapid development of oil and steel industries, Moscow had surpassed New York and London to be the No.1 on this list with 74 billionaires. However, there were only five billionaires living in the city in 2002, and compared with other cities on the list, commodity prices in Moscow are much lower.
 

2. New York, U.S.


Number of billionaires: 71

Average volume of wealth: 3.3 billion U.S. dollars

Taking the top position on the list for the last ten years, NY dropped to second in 2007. However, most people in this list are world renowned tycoons, such as Keith Rupert Murdoch of the media industry and Donald Trump of real estate. And the city's mayor is one of these billionaires too.
 

3. London, UK


Number of billionaires: 36

Average volume of wealth: 4.1 billion U.S. dollars

Profiting from the strong pound, lots of billionaire celebrities fill London, including airline and media tycoon Richard Branson, clothes merchant Philip Green and the richest man in Europe Duke Lakshmi Mittal.
 

4. Istanbul, Turkey


Number of billionaires: 35

Average volume of wealth: 1.7 billion U.S. dollars

The beautiful scenery of costal Istanbul makes it a holly land for both tourists and billionaires. Nearly all the 35 billionaires are local celebrities. They earn money through many industries including cell phone and banking and the cost for living here is not quite much. It will cost 5,000 dollars to rent a house in downtown district for a month and 50 dollars to hire a housekeeper for a day. However, the cost for tourists may be little higher.
 

5. Hong Kong, China


Number of billionaires: 30

Average volume of wealth: 5 billion U.S. dollars

HK is the Asian city with the most billionaires. The tax free capital income makes it a prosperous business center, and businessmen also enjoy its profit. The most famous billionaire in Hong Kong is Li Jiangcheng, the richest man in HK and also within the 10 richest men in the world, whose personal assets are worth 26.5 billion U.S. dollars.
 

6. LA, U.S.


Number of billionaires: 24

Average volume of wealth: 3 billion U.S. dollars

LA is a city with vanity and magic. Many billionaires in this city are relevant to entertainment, such as Oscar-winner director Steven Spielberg and the president of Viacom Sumner. However, an exception to the norm recently appeared in the richest man in California Kirk Kerkorian. He puts his money in GM, Chrysler, Ford and hotels, but the largest part of his assets is in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
 

7. Bombay, India


Number of billionaires: 20

Average volume of wealth: 7.6 billion U.S. dollars

Although there are only 20 billionaires living in Bombay, the average volume of their wealth is even higher than that of Moscow. Among them, Mukesh is the one who prefers to show his wealth. He is building a personal mansion with 27 stories, which is claimed to cost more than 2 billion U.S. dollars.
 

8. San Francisco, U.S.


Number of billionaires: 19

Average volume of wealth: 3.1 billion U.S. dollars

Most of the billionaires living here are IT tycoons, including Larry Page, founder of Google, Peter Thiel, founder of PayPal and earlier investor of Facebook, Ray Dolby, leader of Dolby laboratory, John Doerr, a master of Internet venture investment and Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook.
 

9. Dallas, U.S.


Number of billionaires: 15

Average volume of wealth: 2.6 billion U.S. dollars

Dallas, a southern U.S. city, has some tycoons in the oil industry such as T. Boone Pickens and Ray Lee Hunt, and also celebrities from other businesses, including Mark Cuban, the boss of NBA team Dallas Mavericks.
 

10. Tokyo, Japan


Number of billionaires: 15

Average volume of wealth: 2.8 billion U.S. dollars

In 1987, Yoshiaki Tsutsumi from Tokyo real estate claimed first position as the richest man in the world, and the city of Tyoko ranked in third place on this list in 2002. But because the Japan's declining economy, its position dropped down to tenth this year.
